0 List of Personal Finance Youtubers in Malaysia

On Youtube, there’s a growing list of personal finance content creators that are really making awesome content to keep Malaysians informed about how to manage their finances. Although they are small in number compared to their counterparts in the United States and Britain, it is so very important to have personal finance content from a Malaysian perspective, so I’m glad that these guys are stepping in to fill in the gap.

This is not a definitive list — if you know of any Malaysian personal finance Youtuber who is not on the list, let me know!

Women power

Do you know women consistently outperform men at investing? Since women are better investors, surely we have a unique perspective that’s worth sharing with the world! Here are the women Youtubers of the Malaysian personal finance sphere:

The Financial Fitness

Ivy and Ying share about personal finance and personal growth in their channel. I really envy them, because they began their journey so young — in university and as a fresh graduate! There’s a lot of fantastic content for a newbie about money management on their channel such as dividend stocks, gold, robo advisors and more.

Suyin Ong

Suyin vlogs not just about personal finance, but about personal development too. She shares personal thoughts building a good relationship with money so that we are free to lead life on our terms — something which I really relate to!

Swan Thinks

What I like about Swan is that she not only gives really detailed explanations about investing, she gives insights that are not found anywhere.

Her complete guide on REITs was the one that got me really excited about investing in them.

Ringgit oh Ringgit

Suraya needs no introduction! Her blog is one of the most popular in Malaysia and she covers a wide variety of financial topics. She gives practical tips on managing your money and investing wisely.

English channels

Ziet Invests

Ziet is actually a finance professional in real life and generously share his knowledge of the industry in his Youtube channel. His content is an educational deep dive into stocks and ETFs, especially in the US market, but he’s particularly well-known for his content on investing in foreign stocks with Interactive Brokers. However, I can see that he is moving away from being platform-focused. He now offers more general investing content and even has weekly updates on the stock market.

Financial Journey with Coffee

This channel is primarily focused (for now) on investing, so he talks a lot about investing from a millennial perspective. Videos about using Stashaway, Wahed, and investing in cryptocurrencies.

Millennial Finance

This channel aims to help young people get started in their careers, increase income, create good money habits and invest wisely. Controversially, well, at least to those who espouse to the Dave Ramsey school of thought, they don’t believe in paying off certain debts early but invest them instead. For youth who have a long time horizon, this could be sound advice, but being a lover of debt free living, I say there’s nothing freer than not being chained by debt!

Roti Telur Finance

Dean from Kuala Lumpur said that he started investing when he was 18 and his channel is his way of sharing his successes and failures in managing his money. He made his first RM100k by 24 so I think he’s in a good place!

FIRL (Financing in Real Life)

John and MJ are mainly into picking individual stocks. Although that’s not my jam, it’s been educational watching them analyse individual stocks and the trends that impact their performance — you can learn a lot about how to pick the best companies to invest in that way. That said, they also have content on other investing vehicles such as roboadvisors, unit trusts and more.

KC Lau’s Money Tips

There’s so much content out there for millennials and people below 30s that I feel rather left out at times. KC Lau gives you a more, dare I say it, Gen-X or older millennial point of view on investing, savings and retirement.

Money Magnet PLT

Money magnet talks about making more money, pay less for things live our best lives. That sounds fantastic 😉

CF Lieu

Lieu calls himself the “worst sales person” in the financial industry. That’s because he teaches viewers how to evaluate their own investments with facts and figures. I learned a lot about REITs from Lieu, and got hooked on them as a result! (His Tik Tok videos where he acts as different people talking about finance are a hoot!)

Bahasa Malaysia channels

I’m sure there are far, far more BM channels out there. But the following are my favourites.

Dr Adam Zubir

While many Malaysians Youtubers seem to focus on how to invest (and there’s nothing wrong with that), I appreciate that besides the basics of managing your money, Dr. Zubir talks about unique issues such as, “does the war in Ukraine affect us?” or “People who have achieved financial freedom but still rent their homes”.

Financial Faiz

One of my favourite BM personal finance Youtube channels! Faiz talks about a wide-range of money issues that affect the average Malaysian such as real istate, taxes, EPF, managing debt and saving money. (PS: I love his thumbnails!)

English and Bahasa Malaysia channels

Helmi Hasan

Helmi talks about relatable money topics for people in their 20s and 30s. This can range from product reviews to the practicalities of living in a studio apartment to why he’s mad about insurance. Fun and varied stuff.

My Personal Finances (MyPF)

The Youtube spinoff of the popular blog, MyPF, consists mostly of interviews with experts about various financial issues. My favourite is their MoneyMalist show.

Mr Money TV

A slick production, fun, happy vibes — Mr Money TV presents his content in such a way that it’s both entertaining and educational. And in Bahasa Malaysia and English to boot!
